The ‘Greening’ of the bus lanes near Holy Trinity

July 26, 2019 by Peter Jackson

The arrival of the second tram in our neighbourhood, with stops at Alphonse Karr and Jean Medecin, brings significant change to the neighbourhood of Holy Trinity.  Throughout the day large numbers of people arrive from the airport and many take the tram to and from work rather than the bus. By the end of the year, the tram will extend to the Port.

This is leading to a major re-organisation of our transport system. On September 2 an entirely new bus network will go into service. Designed to complement the new tram line 2, the new system will keep some buses, combine the routes of others and launch entirely new lines. Nice’s night buses, the Noctambus, will be eliminated because a handful of lines will run as late as the tram lines and coordinate with them.

Another consequence of these changes is that the bus lanes in rue de la Buffa and Avenue du Maréchal Foch will be replaced by wider pavements and ‘greening’. Work is already well advanced on Avenue du Maréchal Foch. The whole project will take until 2021.

There will be a presentation abut this at the Hotel le Splendid on Tuesday, July 30 at 6.30 pm.
