Support for Ukrainian refugees
For many years both Nice and Vence have supported the charity, Arogya Agam, which helps children with HIV/AIDS. A similar opportunity has arisen with the refugees fleeing the invasion of Ukraine. Instead of contributing to an international agency, we can support an initiative in a village in Hungary, known to Lora Bernabei and her husband, Arthur.
The small village of Kisgörbö has a no longer used village school and at the mayor’s initiative they are converting it to be a shelter for refugees. They hope to accommodate at least 30.
The help we have already offered with clothes is welcome (see the picture of the mayor of Kisgörbö, Gázor Kozma, with the drivers who took them there).
Our money (over 700 euros) will help equip the refuge with essentials such as pots and pans and washing machines, to enable some semblance of normal life to resume.
We have also supplied basic medicines, children’s clothes, diapers and toiletries.
