Support for Ukrainian refugees
For many years both Nice and Vence have supported the charity, Arogya Agam, which helps children with HIV/AIDS. A similar opportunity arose with the refugees fleeing the invasion of Ukraine. Instead of contributing to an international agency, we are supporting an initiative in a village in Hungary, known to Lora Bernabei and her husband, Arthur.
The small village of Kisgörbö has a no longer used village school and at the mayor’s initiative they have converted it to be a shelter for refugees. They have accommodated 30 people.
The help we have already offered with clothes is welcome (see the picture of the mayor of Kisgörbö, Gázor Kozma, with the drivers who took them there). Following earlier financial aid, the proceeds from the Bicentennial Concerts given in the the Presbytery by Margi MacDuffie and Joe Voelker will also help them. Donations amounted to more than 400 euros.
