Last weekend saw some terrible weather. There was a red alert in the region. We were advised to stay at home and not to drive. The police told shops to close at 6 pm on Saturday. After discussion with Claire Ery, warden at St Hugh’s, we decided to cancel the 9 am Sunday service at St Hugh’s. This turned out to be a very wise decision – one couple in Vence couldn’t leave their house because there was a fallen tree blocking their path; another described that the lane at the end of their drive had become a river!
